Dear Bioinformatics Community of Practice,
As the SeqAfrica project comes to an end in March 2026, we have been exploring options to ensure the continued sustainability of our bioinformatics community. We are therefore pleased to share an opportunity for ongoing engagement through the GA4GH-PHA4GE Infectious Disease Community of Interest.
Please see the message below from the GA4GH & PHA4GE team, who will be launching their first community call in February 2026. For those interested in remaining connected to a global, diverse, and practice-oriented infectious disease genomics network, this may be a valuable next step.
Kind regards,
Pernille

Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to share an update on the GA4GH & PHA4GE Infectious Disease Community of Interest (ID CoI). Thanks to the support and enthusiasm of your new co-leads, Charlie, Nishan, and Samantha, we are planning to kick-off our first community call in February 2026 (exact date to follow).
The CoI will serve as a collaborative space for advancing priorities of the infectious disease genomics community and exploring how GA4GH and PHA4GE standards can support real-world needs across pathogen and human genomics. Attached is a short slide deck<https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ZWxyjlY04nl9mXM_xXBp6oqQYMrrpY2nw0pā¦> summarizing the updated mission and goals for the community.
As many of you were part of the previous ID CoI, you are already on the mailing list and will receive the meeting updates. One of our goals as a community is to build a space that is globally diverse and inclusive across domains of infectious disease genomics, and we would greatly appreciate your support in this mission.
š Please feel free to share this email and the sign-up link<https://www.ga4gh.org/get-involved/join-our-community/join/> with colleagues, regional partners, and others in your networks who may be interested in joining the community.
Thank you for your continued interest and for helping us build a strong, connected infectious disease genomics community. We will follow up soon with the confirmed date and agenda for the first call.
Best regards,
Kaitlyn, on behalf of your GA4GH & PHA4GE Infectious Disease CoI co-leads:
Charlie Barclay, Nishan Katuwal, Samantha Chill
